In case you haven't heard The Prince House and the Bee Hive have both been condemned because of a combination of erosion and all the septic systems have failed.
The PH is such a powerful memory for us old timers. To lose it is a blow. I want to go over there for Frothy Drink night hosted by Robbie Fearn and Pete Peterson and watch the sun come up.
Sigh.
OK... Now I'm sad.
ReplyDeleteThe Prince House porch is a place I go in my mind when I have a really strong need to go someplace in my mind. If you know what I mean.
And as for the Beehive... well, I always had a vague notion of possibly being lucky enough to go back to the Colony at some future time and living in the Beehive for a summer.
Damn.
Pam and I were talking this morning about how that piece of beach is the only place we really feel "home". The PH of so many memories and the Bee Hive where we had 5 blessed weeks when Don hired us to come do Complete Works ... Can't they pick them up on a barge and put them at the booth house?
ReplyDeleteI overheard some new kids talking about that there used to be a "party house" on the water near the theater. The PH is already passing out of memory
